Very helpful and welcoming owner. Very comfortable room amd also pleasant lounge with self service bar. Excellent breakfast. Also excellent location for the city.

The interior decoration of the room is simple and pretty, and it is a very comfortable room. The staff is kind. I'd like to stay again.

The hotel was in a great location, very close to everything in the town centre. The owners Sophie and Greg were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely little hotel, good rooms, great service and I will certainly be returning there next time I am back in Cheltenham.

Greg and Sophie, and their staff, are delightful, and made me feel very welcome. They were always helpful, and made my stay a pleasure, only wish I could have stayed longer than my nine days. They have the best breakfasts. The position of the Abbey, so close to the main shopping area, was very convenient. I will most certainly return.

The only problem was really nothing to do with The Abbey per se: the local pub noise on a few evenings was a little loud, but not dreadful, no more than could be expected from a hotel so close to the action. It won't stop me returning.

The friendly from the owner was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is quiet and well run and in an excellent location for walking to the city centre and parks.

There is no on-site parking and the road outside is restricted to resident parking. But the hotel provided a parking permit for the duration of the stay so we were able to park our car right outside the hotel.

    Relaxing atmosphere and location ideal..

Sophie and Greg were very accomodating. Very friendly and happy and helped us out as we needed to book in early. The breakfast was very good and on Gold Cup day, we were offered Champagne which was a lovely touch!

I couldn't fault The Abbey except for the shower in our room (Room 2). This was a problem as the shower was hot for a while and then either a) stopped working or b) went freezing cold! We then had to stop the shower, wait for 5-10 mins before trying again. This isn't great when you have soap everywhere! We were offered another room to shower in when I complained but this isn't the most convenient!

The staff were friendly and welcoming, the overall impression was of a professionally run hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. Honesty bar was a nice touch, reasonably priced for a hotel and stocked with good local beer. Room was a very well furnished and decorated double, it faced towards the rear garden making it very quiet for a town centre hotel. Well situated for Cheltenham, most of the theatres, restaurants and shops are within ten minutes walk.

For me the room would have been slightly on the small side if we were going to stay more than a couple of nights. However I did not see any of the other rooms, and I did book the last double available a couple of hours before arriving; so it may be that we did have the smallest double in the hotel.

Exceptionally friendly owners and staff that made you feel right at home, as well as an ideal location made our stay very enjoyable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Nice to have an electric tea kettle in the room.

    Nothing we didn't like.

Thought the staff and the breakfast were excellent.

Room was maybe a touch un-homely, but this is a very minor thing.

The friendliness of the owner and great breakfast

A hairdryer in the room would be useful

We arrived early but were given our room straight away. This was a big plus after a long rail journey (in the rain) we chose this hotel as it appeared to be within easy walking distance to all shops and theatres etc,and it was,5 minutes. Also 5/10 minutes from the train station. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean room and ensuite and the cooked breakfast was brilliant. All in all a nice friendly hotel to stay in.

The only thing I can remember that was negative about the hotel was the bed. We stayed in number 5. The bed was very creaky, the odd spring sticking up and I awoke with a bad back.Perhaps that needs looking at.

We stayed at the Abbey to break the journey from the North travelling down to Cornwall. The room was in excellent condition and the staff extemely friendly. The breakfast was a full English, served hot and not just luke warm

The Abbey was so convenient for us and the staff were super,we would certainly go back and recommend it to others

it was in a super location, but unfortunatly because of all night pubs, there was a bit of noise from the revellers at the nearby Weatherspoons in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The reception was friendly, practicalities were quickly covered and I was shown to a comfortable and very quiet room which suited me admirably. The full English breakfast was spot on.
